God Hates Unmarried Losers

It's BushCo's $1.5 bil plan to let the homophobic Christian Right dictate love. Whee!
By Mark Morford

I mean, what the hell is the world coming to? And what, pray tell, is a self-righteous, homophobic, God-thumping, conservative administration that constantly kowtows to the preening Christian Right to do about all this?

Why, hurl $1.5 billion of your tax dollars at the problem, that's what. Educate them dumb poor people on how to fly right and learn more "interpersonal skills" so they can get married -- you know, just like their much happier and more heavily narcotized, sanctimonious, Botoxed, Zolofted, blank-eyed Republican masters -- er, fellow citizens.

Bush Plans $1.5 Billion Drive for Promotion of Marriage
By ROBERT PEAR and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
Published: January 14, 2004

"If necessary," [Bush] said, "I will support a constitutional amendment which would honor marriage between a man and a woman, codify that, and will — the position of this administration is that whatever legal arrangements people want to make, they're allowed to make, so long as it's embraced by the state, or does start at the state level."

An Idea

Hey, for $1.5 billion, we could send a LOT of them queers back to where they came from... you know, where all the latte-drinking, sushi-eating, Volvo-driving left-wing freaks belong...

...VERMONT!

Re: An Idea

You know that second quote...the "If necessary..." one...that I believe was an answer to someone who was getting him to directly attack homosexuality. They asked him something like (I've forgotten word for word) "Would you be willing to pass a ban on homosexual marriage."

I forgot the question because the answer was so obviously doublespeak, and it was so obviously meant to not answer their question, but make it look like he agreed with them (even though if he did, he would have said it much clearer like, "We don't need no fags 'round here! This is America!"

Say what?

I just don't get the whole idea that you have to "promote" marriage. Who in this country hasn't heard of /thought of /been to /planned on attending a wedding? More marriages are going to help things in this country? I was in a relationship for 12 1/2 years without getting married, and know ONE couple that has lasted longer in marriage than my relationship did! Like that will change somehow if we put pom-poms on and cheer for it??!!

oy.

I'm so glad my tax dollars are being handled properly.
