The Problem with Sex on TV

Well, the modern TVs are so thin you would have to tip them over in order to have a surface to have sex on. *ba-dum-bum*

But seriously, I was watching a few movies lately and really longing for the days when they just cut away from the couple in bed as they started kissing, or cut back to them as they were lying there cuddling. What I really could do without is the brief moments of watching men lying on top of women, humping them. Really, it adds nothing to the plot. It is just gratuitous. Can't we go back to implied sex and not show all this thrusting and grunting. It lacks skill, style, and imagination.

Only if there's no nudity. If there's nudity, then hump away!

Showing the act does nothing for me, however if it were a scene in a book I would probably enjoy reading it.

Sex and the media

There are good reasons to show sex. I keep thinking of the way sex was handled in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Joss Whedon showed sex when it developed plot.

As for books, the last really hot sex scenes I remember reading were in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake novels.
