“Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King”

The Sci Fi channel has been pushing something they call “Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King” and saying “Before "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "The Lord of the Rings" there was the Dark Kingdom.”

That made me curious so I checked it out.

Prince Siegfried, Brunhild, the dragon Fafnir, the Nibelungs.

Ring of the Nibelungs aka "Kingdom in Twilight" or "Sword of Xanten". Released for German TV in 2004. Well, I'm glad they didn't go with "Sword of Xanten" Xanten sounds like a made up place doesn’t it?

Diane Duane is one of the Script Writers! Way cool I love her! A good pagan author!

The reason it sounds like your standard D&D plot is that it is what D&D is based on. Magic sword stuck in a tree, by a god, shattered blade that must be reforged to slay a dragon, lost prince raised as a commoner. Yes that is old stuff.
