More TV

Went over to B&K's to watch TV. Watched several episodes of "Yes, Prime Minister" (even though K doesn't like it) and then one episode of first season "Enterprise" (even though B doesn't like it).

B and I had a lively discussion of why "Enterprise" was not popular with the ST fan base. If the writers had just made an effort to turn "Enterprise" into a historical drama using the known history of the ST universe it would have been much more popular.

And, indeed, for the 3rd season, I believe, that's exactly what they tried to do. But it was too late.

What a coincidence. I wanted to ask you something.

There was a bright light shining through my south facing window all night. It was the only celestial object I could see with my glasses off. And it was really bright, it was keeping me awake.

I assume it is a planet. But which one?

Re: What a coincidence. I wanted to ask you something.

Welcome to the bright majesty that is Jupiter! :-) It is spending this year in Sagittarius.
Yes. Enterprise was supposed to bring back all the classic aliens like Andorians and Vulcans and delve into their history and cultures and explain just how the hell these various desparte civilizations decided it would be a good idea to unite.

Then they spend the first two seasons showing off all their favorite ST gadgetries in alien settings, like transporters (still considered fairly "new" in TOS) and replicators (DID NOT EXIST PRIOR TO TNG!)

I lost interest after five episodes. It smacked of Voyager without the actual being lost part. *still considers DS9 the best series, even if she is the oddball ST fan*
I thought there was one season that was better than the others but B said they were all equally bad.
The last half of the last season kicked ass. It was wonderful, exactly what my group of ST fans were looking for. But, as Kinnec said, it was too little, too late.
