TV update

Finished watching "Neverwhere" I even listened to Neil's commentary. He said he was going to write a story about "The Seven Sisters" and "How the Marquee Got His Coat Back". I would like to see those. Neil is cute, how he feels so guilty about all that people go through to bring his work to the screen. He felt guilty about "Stardust" too.

"The Lost Room" was good. It would have made a good series with Detective Joe wandering around looking for the Objects and returning them to the room.

Watched "The Butcher's Wife" which was a very polished romantic comedy.

And the first 8 episodes of "Barney Miller". I remembered his wife, but had forgotten his daughter. I don't think I ever saw the episodes that took place at his home before. It was interesting how the show looked like a play. I was very conscious of the set being set like, and characters coming on and off stage. The laughter of the audience was strange after not watching sit-coms much anymore. When I watched it as a child I was not aware of those things.

Wow, when I remember back on Barney Miller, I think how normal the characters looked, compared to the ultra-thin, buff-as-hell, gun-toting types we see now.
Well, plays tend to have more normal looking people than TV.

But another thing that was more obvious this time was how all the people were "characters". The only one who isn't a stereotype is Yamana. And while his character is not stereotypically Asian it is still very two dimensional.
