"My Name Is Bruce" (2006)

Teenage Boy: "Goldlick needs you. A group of teenagers unwittingly unleashed Guan-Di the Ancient Chinese god of war and protector of the dead. And unless you help us stop him he will kill every one of us."
Bruce Campbell: "OK. Settle down. I'm gonna give you some advice. OK? Keep it under a million and a half, get one "name" actor, and if you go straight to DVD you might break even."

Bruce Campbell plays a parody of himself as an actor who is kidnapped by a fan to stop an Ancient Chinese god of tofu who is killing people. If you like Bruce Campbell's B movies this is for you. Bruce Campbell is a funny guy who doesn't take himself too seriously.

I was a little bothered by the "old Chinese guy" character. He seemed to be a throwback to the bad old days, but there is so much camp in this movie that I find it hard to be offended by anything.

I ordered it because I am a fan of Bruce Campbell. This is good campy fun. The sort of horror movie I can enjoy.

I heard an interview with Bruce Campbell on NPR. This movie, including the set for the town, was shot on his private property. They got the trailer "Bruce Campbell" lives in from a trailer refurbishing company. They had to explain to the company that they wanted an un-refurbished one. The real Bruce Campbell really did make a movie in Bulgaria.
