Instant Soup Mixes:Knorr Leek and Myojo Nama Udon

I love Knorr Leek soup. So I picked up an envelope of it. Except it's not 'soup mix' anymore, it's 'Knorr Leek Recipe Mix'. That might explain the instructions. According to the package if you want "classic potato leek soup" you should add chicken broth, white wine, potatoes, and heavy cream to the mix. If I wanted to do all that work I would make my soup from scratch. The only thing missing from those ingredients are the leeks.

Well, I just added water to the mix and it tasted just the way I remember.

When I was at Wegmans yesterday I picked up an assortment of Asian ramen style noodle soup packages. The first one I tried was Myojo Mama Udon Soup with Beef Flavor. As near as I can tell "Udon noodles" means "soup noodles". The word "Udon" doesn't translate directly as "soup". But Udon noodles are a type of thick wheat-flour noodle that is ideal for soup.

Anyway I followed the instructions on the package (which is unusual for me). Because these are wet packed noodles they just needed to be heated, not rehydrated like ramen noodles. So they are ready sooner than ramen. They tasted like thick hearty noodles in beef broth. I would buy them again.
