Cayuga Center For Healthy Living

I had my first appointment with the Cayuga Center For Healthy Living today.

When my doctor told me to go to their nutritionist I was skeptical. I have not found nutritionist helpful in the past. But they kept calling me, and eventually caught me. The woman on the phone mentioned that they had a stress reduction program. Since stress management is a large part of my eating pattern this sounded helpful.

Today I spoke to a RN and an NP. They gave me a log, to track my eating, and set up a treatment plan based around what I already do. And gave me a placemat with the new "My Plate" diagram. Very sensible.

I think an actual plate with the portion sizes marked out would be better. And neither the placemat they gave me nor the portion plates I found online match the government standard, which has more vegetables than fruit and more whole grains than protein.

I have several follow up appointments. one with an actual nutritionist.

I have an appointment with my new therapist tomorrow. That might be more helpful. I really need to find other ways to "self soothe".
