Shopping and Cooking

I have been making soup. I made a wonderful Navy Bean soup with ham, and a Minestrone with spinach. I used my homemade turkey stock for both. Stock really does make soups taste better. Especially my stock that solidifies when it cools.

After my blood draw this morning I went grocery shopping. I picked up a bunch of veggies. After watching Peter Attia's video again and visiting his website. I decided to try to add more veggies to my diet. It can't hurt. And I do love veggies. I picked up some anise, radishes, cucumbers, mushrooms, and a cauliflower. The first three are all snack foods the mushrooms and cauliflower I will probably cook.

In general I have a pretty good diet. When I was taking the diabetic nutrition class I had to keep a food diary. The nurse and the dietician who reviewed my food diary agreed that I generally have a healthy diet, although I need to eat more vegetables.

I make most of my food. I use very few processed ingredients. I don't usually drink sodas. I don't keep snack foods around the house. One acquaintance of mine actually accused me of being a bad hostess because I don't have snack foods to offer visitors. I rarely have desserts around. I don't buy cookies or cakes. If I want a sweet I make it from scratch, not a box mix. And I usually only make sweets to share with other people. In the winter I snack on oranges and in the summer I snack on whatever is in season.

I'm appalled that someone thinks you should keep junk food around for visitor, like you should just do that the for the hell of it!
