Cottonwood Blizzards and Maple Seed Helicopters.

It's been a beautiful weekend and today was still beautiful.

If you have never lived in an area with Cottonwood trees you don't know about the spring blizzards. The fluff from the Cottonwoods looks like giant fluffy snowflakes and piles up in drifts along the roads and in the streams. And every time the wind blows we are pelted with whirligig helicopters from the Maple trees.

I got up early today to drop off some packages at the post office and UPS. Then I read for a while. Then I did a craft project with Bella from downstairs. We decorated staves with ribbons and beads. We started out sitting on the front stoop but the sun really made us sweat even though it wasn't that hot so we came inside and finished our projects in the living room. Bella is very young and got bored before her's was finished so I helped her finish it. We had a very nice morning. I like doing craft projects.

It is still a beautiful day, sunny clear blue sky, even though the forecast is for t-storms this afternoon.

The ground was white with cottonwood on part of Columbia Island in DC when i was there on Saturday. :)
how nice.
I love cottonwoods! We don't have them in Phoenix (too dry), but I've seen them in other parts of Arizona and New Mexico. I love the "blizzard" of fluff.
