I think one of my neighbors has died.

I only think, instead of know, because the neighbors right below me have never been very communicative. I knew the patriarch of the family has been very sick for months. He had an oxygen machine that I could hear in my apartment and a sign on their front door, saying that there was oxygen in use. Then yesterday I saw people taking things out of the apartment as if someone was moving out and the oxygen sign was gone, and I can't hear the machine any more.

Dina, who lives across the hall from them says that her son Brenden saw an ambulance the day before. But that is all we know.

That family has been living in that apartment longer than I have been living here and I still know almost nothing about them. I have tried to be friendly, saying hello and trying to engage in casual conversation. But they have not been very responsive. They keep to themselves. And that is their right. But it is sort of sad too.

I'm glad that Dina lives downstairs. She is very friendly and outgoing.

EDIT: I spoke to the woman who lives downstairs and her husband has not died yet. But he has been moved to hospice care.

How sad for them. I am glad you have good neighbors.
