Bariatric Surgery Update

Another thing that happened last week was a major change in my bariatric surgery path. I got a call from Sayre letting me know that their bariatric surgeon has decided to take a position in his home town in Texas. They don't know who their new surgeon will be or what he will want before he does surgery. Or even when they will have a new surgeon.

This means that I don't need to keep seeing the psychologist, the dietitian, or the fitness expert. But I decided I want to keep seeing the Dr Dietitian because my insurance insists on 6 consecutive months with a doctor supervised diet before any surgery, and sticking with it will take care of that requirement regardless of what else happens. I'm a bit behind schedule with weight loss, so I probably wasn't going to be ready after 6 months anyway. And losing weight is good no matter how I do it.

So, I will only be going down to Sayre once a month for the one Dr Dietitian appointment, instead of two times a month for four appointments. I sort of found the other dietitian redundant since I'm seeing the Dr Dietitian. My regular weekly therapist will take care of the psychology, and the physical therapy will take care of the fitness advice. After the physical therapy runs out I will switch to the CCHL exercise program, and maybe the Island Fitness bariatric program. It's a bit of a set back but not a total loss. I'm still moving forward.
