Physical Therapy Update

I've been going to physical therapy twice a week for three weeks now. I think I'm walking better and I'm able to step up and down without falling over. But I've been getting muscle spasms in my back and around my ribs. I think it is from some of the arm exercises. I mentioned it to the therapist today and last week. And we tried to go a little easy on my back. But it is still twinging. I'm going to try to do more stretching at home and see if that helps.

The therapists have been working on getting me to slow down. I need to do my exercises slowly. I think doing things quickly is a habit. I throw myself into things and push until I'm exhausted, then I collapse and give up. I need to pace myself and see if that helps.

I think it might be because of the insulin resistance. Even as a child I know I got tired easily and had trouble recovering. (There are so many projects I have started and never finished.) I think that is why I push myself to get things done as fast as possible, before I collapse. (Either that or I want to finish before I get bored. But if it is an insulin thing maybe pacing myself will actually help.) So, I'm going to try to be OK with doing things slowly. I'm afraid it means not accomplishing as much, but hey, I don't accomplish much when I collapse.
