One of the cool things about LibraryThing is finding out I have interests I didn't know I had.
I have cataloged 27 Biographies so far.
And 18 books about China

I have made more progress in cataloging my library in the last two months (since I got my LibraryThing account) than I have in the previous 10 years.

But I'm getting a bit frustrated with the social functions. No matter what books I add my weighted list of "Users with your books" doesn't change, and the top person on that list only has 39 of my 1580 books. If I go with the "raw" matches it just brings up the science fictions fans.

I really want total strangers to look at my catalog and tell me how cool I am. Because I think my collection does show how amazingly cool I really am.

soulspirals got me involved in Library Thing. I didn't see the point at first but I love books so I've been looking at it.

Then fritterfae mentioned that he had purchased a CueCat barcode scanner and was using it to catalog his book collection. I have been cataloging my collection for years! It is my fond hope that a CueCat barcode scanner will help speed up the process for me.

blaisepascal has graciously ordered one for me. And this afternoon he gifted me with a lifetime membership to LibraryThing. So I exported my collection from my Filemaker database and imported it into LibraryThing. It needed a little bit of cleaning up but...

I now have 1200 books in my Catalog
