My Scooter, and Crocheting with the Girls.

I used my new lift and scooter today. I went grocery shopping. The lack of a shopping basket was a problem. I may go back to using their carts. Or I may stay using mine. I had to buy less because I could only carry so much.

I got lots of positive comments about my tulip hat. People enjoy the bright flowers and it makes them smile.

When I got home I finally got to teach the two girls from next door how to crochet. Gulsum said we could do it at her apartment, because she has more room. I taught them all how to crochet.

I also played chess with them, and we played a round of Apples to Apples. And the girls sang. They have beautiful voices. We sang Frère Jacques as a round! And we sang "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". Liz said she had a solo in school for that song so she led us. I love singing.

Gulsum also invited us all to stay for dinner. Her husband was home but he stayed in another room most of the time. He did join us for dinner. The girls were great they set the table and tried all the food, even though it was strange to them. We had a tomato noodle soup, salad (with lemon juice and pomegranate syrup), a noodle casserole with cheese and corn, and beans with peppers and onions. The girls tried the Turkish fermented carrot juice. They didn't like it but they tried it. And they tried the Japanese green hot sauce. They challenged each other to see how much they could take until Gulsum took it away because she was afraid they would make themselves sick.

Then we went back to crochet and chess. The girls did not get far on the hats. But Gulsum almost finished hers.

The girls really enjoyed their visit and would like to do it again. Gulsum enjoyed it and would like to do it again. I also enjoyed it and would like to do it again.

Sometimes I try to get people together and it doesn't work. But this time I really think it worked well.

It was a very long visit for me though. I'm glad I can stay home tomorrow. I also worry about staying to long, and imposing on Gulsum. She assures me I didn't overstay my welcome. I think she likes having someone to talk to. The girls like having someone to teach them crafts. And Gulsum likes children and was happy to have children around the house. I felt very domestic crocheting with the children.
