Cars and Cupcakes

We had an 8am appointment to get the carburetor replaced this morning. They got us in and out in an hour and a half. I don't know if this is just because we had an appointment so early in the morning this time, or if they are just sick of me and Alex hanging out in the office all day. I sit quietly and read a book, But Alex likes to get involved with their personal lives. Rory loves multi-player computer games and sells stuff on ebay. Rick doesn't know much about computers but he is a sweet guy and really looks out for the customers pocketbook. I was eager for his advice on how much work my car might need in the future and whether I should just get a newer one now and cut my losses. But he politely asked my permission before venturing any advice.

We got home early enough for me to make Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Cupcakes. It's just my banana bread made in cupcake cups. It seems to make a lot more then the loaf, and Alex really likes them.

Then I made soft tacos for lunch.

Around 3:30 we went out to drop off another resume and do laundry. In the laundromat I saw a flier for free cat spaying at the SPCA so we went over and applied for that. I have an appointment to get Ninshurbur spayed in a few weeks.

When we got home I made Zuppa Toscano for dinner.

With all the cooking and cleaning I do it reminds me of why there have been so many fewer woman artists, scientists, and inventors then men: it is really hard to get anything done when you are cooking and cleaning all day. And I have the advantage of modern appliances. Doing thing the old fashion way may save money but it eats up time.

I agree, men have had the time to make all the great accomplishments simply because a woman was taking care of them at the time.
