"Legend of the Seeker"

I have started watching the first season of "Legend of the Seeker". It is a Sam Raimi TV series based on the "Sword of Truth" novels by Terry Goodkind. I am not a fan of Terry Goodkind and I have not read the books.

New Zealand is beautiful! The exterior nature scenes are wonderful, lush and green.
The sets, costuming, and lighting are very nice too. There are diverse actors, most very pretty.

The first couple of episodes were a bit slow, the burden of too much exposition. After that it is pretty much a sward and sorcery action adventure. It doesn't have the camp humor of "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" or "Xena: Warrior Princess".

I'm not to fond of the morals of the stories. I tend to agree with Terry Pratchett that Fantasy is better when it isn't about having wars and kings.

EDIT: I'm liking the Mord'Sith. They are a sort of dominatrix Bene Gesserit in tight leather outfits. They tend to overdo the violence in the torture scenes though.
