Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday

On Friday and Saturday I read "The Bookshop" by Penelope Fitzgerald on my mom's recommendation. I wrote review on Goodreads if you are interested. It was an easy read.

For Saturday dinner we had Wegman's Eggplant Rolatini with ziti and green beans.

Mom got home around 11pm. She had not gotten much sleep since she got up at 4am that morning (due to time differences that was nearly 24 hours before she got home).

We chatted a bit before she went to bed. She got up bright and early Sunday morning. And we had a really good chat about a lot of things. My mom and I don't have really good chats very often so I was very happy about this.

She had a good time in Italy although Gina and Gaby kept her running to see all the sites. She brought me back two small bottles of Limoncello, a cloth with a recipe for lemoncello on it, a box of lemon flavored candied almonds and a hand carved wooden horn to ward off the evil eye (I love magical charms like that).

After lunch I went to Song's house for her Birthday Tea Party, that she was sharing with The Cuteness. I got to wear a purple tiara! and eat watercress and cucumber sandwiches.

Then I went home and had a nervous breakdown. That wasn't very fun.

I slept most of Monday. Then today I went out to Wegmans to pick up some supplies to last me the rest of the month.

So now I'm home and resting up.

This year's visit went much easier than last year's. Sleeping on the second floor, having a wheeled chair in the kitchen, asking dad to help more with the dishes and meals, not trying so hard to impress him with meals when he won't remember anyway, and taking lots of pain medication all helped. I assured mom that I will be happy to do this again next year and she may want me to come down for some shorter trips. I really am happy to help out in any way I'm able.
