"Lucy" and "Maze Runner"

"Maze Runner" was The Boy's choice. It was totally lame. I don't know why anyone would want to re-make the horror movie franchise "The Cube" as YA series, but they did.

I chose "Lucy" and I'm glad I finally saw it. I wanted to see it for a while. It looked fun. But it turned out to be more avant-garde and cerebral than I expected. I told The Boy it would be about a hot chick kicking the bad guy's asses. And it was. But there was also a lot of metaphysical discussion.

I know that we don't really just use 10% of our brains. But if you can get past that, this is about a woman who's mental capacities are rapidly expanding to the point that she stops being human. Which is pretty cool. Toward the end it is possible that she is God.

I found the plot to be straight forward, on her part. But I thought the Korean drug dealers were investing a bit too much effort in retrieving their product. Drug dealers are usually better at cutting their losses.

It's the sort of movie I would like to watch again with friends who can appreciate it. So we can talk about it. Maybe Anne. The Boy slept though most if it. Even the car chase scenes.

I'm not letting The Boy choose movies anymore. He keeps choosing movies neither of us want to watch.

I want to see "Lucy" as I love ScarJo.

And I am shocked - SHOCKED - that a teenage boy has poor taste in movies.
And today he didn't want to watch Box Trolls because he thought it was lame, from seeing the commercials.
